GTEP - Multi Subject Support

Bletchley Park Trust: Education Programme

Aim

To offer young people innovative and inspiring science, mathematics and technology resources, thereby influencing career choices

Background

Bletchley Park is a centre of major national and international importance within the context of the Scientific-Technical Revolution of the 20th century. Cracking the formidable Enigma cipher was Bletchley Park's most famous codebreaking achievement during the Second World War.

Bletchley's non-traditional environment is important because it removes teachers and students from their commonplace settings and encourages thinking outside the box. Against this backcloth, GTEP is working with Bletchley Park to develop unusual learning experiences and materials for teachers and students. The programme is complementary to the national curriculum and draws heavily on codes, ciphers and puzzles to awaken intellectual curiosity. The programme offers:

The programme consists of residential and day workshops for students aged 11-18, masterclasses with materials for teachers, family events and educational outreach.
