Design and Technology Broadband Programme
Aim
To improve the quality of design and technology teaching resources through broadband services.
Background
An increasing number of schools have installed high speed, broadband internet access as part of the Government's establishment of the National Grid for Learning. The Technology Enhancement Programme (TEP) and the East Midlands Broadband Consortium (EMBC) aim to enhance the use of online education resources in the teaching of design and technology, particularly through the use of broadband internet links.
The three key strands are:
- To examine the current use of online, multi-media rich resources in the teaching of design and technology to provide an accurate picture of how schools are using this material on a day-to-day basis
- To develop strategies and good practice guides for teachers on how online resources can enhance and enrich the teaching of design and technology
- To provide feedback to developers of curriculum support materials such as TEP on how best to ensure that their work can be integrated fully with classroom practice.
