GTEP: The King's College London-Weizmann Institute of Science Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme
Aim
To create materials for use within a common CPD framework to help science teachers develop their classroom skills and collect evidence to demonstrate the achievement of improved practice.
Background
Through mentorship and coaching within the classroom science teachers are helped to work on areas of interest to all science teachers
- higher order learning skills
- argumentation
- knowledge integration
- formative assessment and of specific interest to secondary science teachers
- scientific enquiry at Key Stages 3 and 4
- inquiry in chemistry.
Evidence collected to document improved practice can take the form of lesson plans, videos of lessons, reflective diaries, observations by peers, pupils’ work etc. These are compiled into a portfolio.
