Learning Trust: Collaborative Science Programme in Hackney
Aim
To raise standards in science in a group of Hackney schools and to promote cross-Local Education Authority (LEA) working with schools in neighbouring Tower Hamlets.
Background
The Learning Trust is developing a programme aimed at raising the achievement of Hackney students in science.
The foci for the programme are:
- The improvement of the quality of learning and teaching in science with a particular emphasis on scientific enquiry and practical work in both Key Stage 2 and 3
- To improve curriculum continuity in science across Key Stage 2 and 3
- The specialist support of GTEP’s Science Enhancement Programme (SEP) to enhance the delivery of science enquiry
- The work of GTEP’s Teacher Effectiveness Enhancement Programme (TEEP) to improve the quality of learning in the schools
- To continue to develop links between neighbouring schools that are in different LEAs, namely Tower Hamlets.
