Design and Technology Broadband Programme
Aim
To show how practical, problem-solving activities can support the development of technological capability and key skills, and present a positive view of engineering industry to students and teachers.
Background
- Designs, develops and delivers engineering-based practical problem-solving activities, set in an industrial or commercial context
- Works in partnership with technological companies, education business partnerships and SETPONTS, to enthuse and encourage students about maths, science and technology and the importance of engineering industry
- Delivers activities to students of a wide range of age (yrs 4-13) and ability
- Provides courses for teachers and engineers to support the use of practical tasks in the curriculum
- Supports the development of centres to deliver INPUT activities throughout the UK
Around 25,000 young people experience an INPUT task each year and since the inception of the programme at the University of Durham in 1985, over 200,000 have participated in an INPUT event.
