The Gatsby Technical Education Project was formed as a company limited by guarantee on 9 December 1996 and changed its name to Gatsby Technical Education Projects on 27 November 2000.
The company was registered with the Charity Commission on 20 February 1997. The objects of the Charity as given in the Memorandum of Association are the advancement of education for the benefit of the public by the support and development of excellence in engineering, technology, science, mathematics, information technology and other academic areas supporting these disciplines. Trustees are appointed by ordinary resolution after recommendation by the existing Trustees.
