Birmingham Local Education Authority: Collegiate Academies Programme
Aim
The aim of this programme is to improve the quality of teaching and pupil results in mathematics, science and technology.
Background
Birmingham and Middlesbrough had intended to improve the staffing position and the strength of Mathematics, Science and Technology within the context of partnership and interdependent working. The Middlesbrough end of the project has been put on hold “sine die”. The Birmingham work therefore at present has no comparator.
Birmingham’s focus on improvements in the three collegiate networks by the employment principally of Advanced Skills Teachers continues.
In order to promote comparative learning and to spread the promising outcomes of the project so far, discussions continue about the creation of possible collegiates in London.
